One of the United States Box Lacrosse Association’s (USBOXLA) newest members – Pipeline Box Lacrosse based in Louisville, Kentucky – held their first sanctioned event this past weekend at the city’s 24,000 square foot King Louie’s Sports Complex.

The pre-Christmas kickoff was showcased by a competitive tournament featuring a trio of local clubs, plus visiting sides from Cincinnati, Ohio and as far away as Atlanta, Georgia. USBOXLA members Atlanta Revolution Boxla made the six hour trip to Louisville to take part in this exciting inaugural event.

The weekend also included a referee certification class headed up my USBOXLA Eastern Director of Officiating Adam Gardner, who was no stranger to the lacrosse scene in the state after having played NCAA DI lacrosse at Bellarmine University.

“It was a really great weekend overall,” said Gardner, who was impressed with the level of enthusiasm and energy by the Louisville lacrosse locals. “The officials did really well. They picked up the box nuances quickly.

“I’m really looking forward to seeing how the local Louisville box lacrosse landscape grows in coming years. We had some really positive conversations with everyone involved about the growth and development of the game here.”

Gardner also presented the framework co-founding member Cali*Lax ALL-STAR‘s uses for their thriving competitive youth box lacrosse league, one which Pipeline hopes to institute in Louisville in the future.
