The Rochester Knighthawks, in conjunction with Harvest Lacrosse, are launching their first ever Upstate Winter Shootout. The local USBOXLA-sanctioned tournament, which will look to feature teams from throughout the region and Canada, will take place from Saturday, Feb. 3 to Sunday, Feb. 4.

“I’m excited about partnering with Harvest Lacrosse,” said Knighthawks academy director Brad Gillies. “Harvest has a great reputation in the area, and will provide great support for the tournament. With our two organizations working together, I believe this tournament will be a success.”

The Knighthawks hosted their first ever box lacrosse tourney in August, as they welcomed 13 teams to the inaugural Upstate Box Lacrosse Invitational. The event brought in players and fans from as far away as Nepean, Ontario and Akwesasne. Building off that success, the Knighthawks are partnering with Harvest Lacrosse to host their second tournament.

“A partnership with the Knighthawks is extremely exciting,” said Harvest program director and coach Grant Catalino. “We are two like-minded organizations that share the vision of making a difference in the Rochester lacrosse community. Coming together, through this partnership, is a great way to build new relationships that will help influence and develop future student-athletes. The Knighthawks have been a staple in the local sports community for many years, and we are thrilled to have this opportunity.”

Harvest Lacrosse will provide staffing, support and teams for the Upstate Winter Shootout. The games will be held at Your Sports Depot (YSD) in Macedon, NY on Saturday, Feb. 3 and Sunday, Feb. 4. Select Sunday contests will also be hosted at Connors & Ferris Field at The Blue Cross Arena.

“As box lacrosse continues to grow in the United States, it is important to provide opportunities for players and teams to compete,” said Catalino. “We are confident that in partnering with the Knighthawks, we are going to be able to provide a first-class event. We see a ton of value in having a box tournament this winter here in Rochester. Being located so close to Canada, it seems like a natural fit for our community.”
