USBOXLA is thrilled to announce that Team USBOXLA West will be returning to the Trevor Wingrove Memorial Tournament held in Coquitlam, British Columbia, Canada.  Due to the global pandemic and border closure, USBOXLA has been sidelined from competing in one of the top minor box lacrosse tournaments in Canada.

Team USBOXLA's last cross border competition was in 2019 where the red, white and blue netted some serious hardware.

This elite level tournament started in 1984 (originally called the Dogwood Tournament) and was renamed to honor the admired lacrosse player Trevor Wingrove.  Trevor lost his courageous battle with cancer in July of 2010 at the age of forty-two.  The Wingrove tournament showcases the top talent in peewee, bantam and midget divisions.

"Some of my fondest memories were growing up in Coquitlam and playing in the Wingrove tournament in front of my friends and family. The Wingrove is the most competitive lacrosse tournament on the west coast and It's exciting to see American players come and compete against the best" says Wes Berg (DU/San Diego Seals)

"Coquitlam Minor Lacrosse is once again looking forward to the 2022 Box Lacrosse season and the Trevor Wingrove Memorial Tournament,” Coquitlam President, Garrett Ungaro, said. “This Tournament is used as a benchmark of the top Box Lacrosse players and programs in BC. This is an invitational Tournament which accepts only top programs and allows teams to showcase their players to the best competition around.  NLL rosters are loaded with players who played in the Wingrove Tournament and this year we are extremely happy to finally launch a female division showcasing elite level girls in bantam and midget divisions."

Team USBOXLA will be hosting boys tryouts (few spots remain) for elite level players in pee wee (2010/2011) bantam (2009/2008), midget (2007/2006) taking place before the 50 team sold out USBOXLA WESTERN INVITATIONAL in Phoenix Arizona on Feb 4th.

For the girls teams, elite level players will be selected from the San Diego Jr SealsCali*Lax ALL-STARSDenver Pride and Minnesota Stars to represent Team USBOXLA.  This trip will represent the first girls box lacrosse cross border competition in the sport's history.

“Any American player looking to separate themselves from their peers should be playing elite level box lacrosse.  Making the trip to B.C with Team USBOXLA to compete with highly skilled Canadian players truly ignited my passion for the game. I can confidently say that my ability to perform outdoors is a direct correlation to the skills I've developed in my years playing box lacrosse,” said current NCAA All-Time Goals leader, NLL and PLL player, Mac O’Keefe (Penn State ‘21/San Diego Seals).
