Women

2023 USBOXLA Nationals Women's Division

In 2022 USBOXLA hosted the first ever women's division at the USBOXLA Nationals.  It was an resounding success and one of the highlights of the 130 team event.

Fusion West, a predominately BC team,  won the inaugural women's championship that took place in San Jose, California.

The women's division played alongside the men's National Collegiate Box Series (NCBS) where 28 teams from 5 leagues across the USA competed for a National Championship.  NLL stars Trevor Baptiste, Jack Hannah, and Mac O'Keefe all played in the National Collegiate Box Series (NCBS).  In the 2022 NLL Entry draft a record eight NCBS players were drafted to play in the NLL.  Founded by Team Canada Men's and University of Denver coach Matt Brown back in 2018, the NCBS now includes many of the nation's top male collegiate players.

The women's division at the USBOXLA Nationals featured Team Canada's Erica Evans (Maryland National Champion '19) and Northwestern's Megan Kinna both off an incredible summer winning a World Games Super Sixes Gold Medal and a Silver Medal at the World Lacrosse Women’s Field World Cup in Towson, Md.

There were Canadian box stars who currently play in the NCAA such as DU's Lauren Black who had just set the DU freshman all-time scoring record with 54 goals, 20 assists and 74 points and was 5th in the NCAA for freshman in points.  Arizona State's defensive standouts Bella Gaspar and Alexa Ford also played.

There we're also many post collegiate field lacrosse players getting their first taste of an organized box game.

Maryland native Amanda Chasin, who played D1 at Campbell University where she was honorable mention All-Big South defender played for the San Diego Palms.

"The first day I went to box practice in San Diego I was hooked.  My first game ever was at the USBOXLA Nationals and it was so much fun, the game, the speed, the equipment, the buzz, it was just such a great experience" said Chasin.

"There aren't many opportunities to play box in the states and this brings communities together. It all starts with events like this and I can't wait to be back competing with some of the world's best.  My field skills transfer over but there's new skills to learn and that's the exciting part of it, that and helping grow this new community."
